IFOAM Appoints new PGS Task Force

During its March meeting, the World Board appointed new members for the Participatory Gaurantee Systems (PGS) Task Force. Members have been appointed in a way that ensures geographical, background and gender diversity.

 

Participatory Guarantee System

The Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Task Force is an IFOAM internal body that provides the World Board with advice on how to develop, facilitate and encourage PGS around the world. The Task Force defines and systemizes PGS concepts and provides tools appropriate for the facilitation and promotion of PGS.

The currenly elected members of the Task Force have been recruited from a broad consultative group. The World Board appointed seven members of which six have been reappointed from a former unofficial IFOAM working group on PGS. Appointmment of one additional member from the African continent is still outstanding until the next World Board meeting.

The new Task Force consists of the following people: Mathew John (USA),  Inger Kallander (Sweden), Chris May (New Zealand), Laercio Meirelles (Brazil), Ron Khosla (India), Fabio Piccioli (Italy) and Pip Lernoud (Argentina) as a WB counterpart.

The main duties the Task Force will perform during its official term, until the end of 2007, are the promotion of PGS in important meetings and events and the development of tools to assist interested groups in setting up and promoting PGS worldwide.
